#2 of 10 Top Features of KLIK Boks HUB: Support for Four Streams at a Time on the Screen

Updated: Jan 12, 2020

Put four users' content on the screen at the same time, each in full-HD.

KLIK Boks HUB is the first screen sharing device from KLIK that supports multiple, simultaneous, user streams that can be viewed in a 2x2 array onscreen. This feature allows up to 4 people to stream their content at the same time, so that all screens can be viewed side by side, for more effective collaboration. HUB manages the split screen automatically, giving the first user the full screen, then splitting the screen accordingly as additional users are added.

While the split-screen feature has been requested frequently by many of our users, we delayed its introduction to coincide with the release of the HUB, which offers a 4K video output. It’s easy to do the math and see that running four streams on an HD screen results in each stream being squeezed into a sub-optimal 960x540 screen-space. If you’ve seen some of the early attempts at quad-view on 1080p screens, you’ll know that this was not the solution anyone was looking for.

With HUB, each of the four streams is afforded 1920x1080 pixels, for a full-HD viewing experience. This is critical, because it results in a render that’s true to the source, with no scaling—and its accompanying artifacts—applied. Of course, streaming 4 x HD signals puts mores demand on your WLAN, but if you really need (want) 4 screens at a time, that’s something you can plan for. Processing power in the HUB is significantly greater than prior models, so the device is truly up to the job.

Any of the four streams can be instantly maximized, to occupy the whole screen, either through the touch interface, or by a pointing device (mouse). In turn, the stream can be returned to its split quadrant, and another stream may be selected. If you’re using a touch-enabled display, this is done by double-tapping on the screen, to reveal the People Panel, on the left side of the screen. Or, you can use The Daisy to select the People Picker tool, then select the stream you want to feature.

Mouse users can simply hover over any screen to reveal the Maximize and End buttons, to execute those functions. The HUB’s UI has been designed to elegantly blend both touch-friendly features, along with intuitive support for non-touch displays. The Quad Display split-screen feature has been designed from the start to be easy and intuitive to operate on any screen, touch, or not. Armed with 4K video and plenty of processing power, HUB delivers on the promise of multiple simultaneous streams, without compromise.
