Make your own wallpapers for KLIK

What's a Wallpaper?

A wallpaper is what you see on the display screen when the KLIK is powered on but not in use. Wallpapers consist of an action area that displays instructions and settings and the desktop that hosts an image. KLIK's default wallpaper shows a neutral design created by our resident artist Jeremy. Don't worry, he won't be offended if you decide to change yours.

Getting Prepared

There are two components to changing the standby screen graphics; 1) creating the graphic files, and 2) installing the files on the KLIK Boks. There is a total of four graphic files that need to be created, in the PNG file format, using the template files supplied below. You will need access to a graphics editing application that supports transparency (Photoshop, or similar).

Creating the Image Files

  1. Unzip the UI_install.zip archive to your local drive.

  2. Open the graphics/photo editing application and create a new image file selecting 1280 x 720 pixels in size.

  3. Place the first of four KLIK files from the UI_image folder into the artboard.

  4. Add a second layer, below the KLIK image file and lock the KLIK layer.

  5. Add your graphics and images and avoid placing anything that needs to be visible under the action area.

  6.  Export the resulting file as a PNG, using the filename of the KLIK image that was placed. Ensure that the exported file is under 100k in size.

  7. Repeat for each of the remaining image files.

  8. When complete, place the new image files on blank USB flash drive, inside a folder named UI_images. Back up the files to your computer.

Installing the new Images

  1. Ensure that the KLIK is powered on and connected to a display.

  2. Insert the USB flash drive made in the previous step into the socket on the KLIK.

  3. Watch the top left-hand corner of the screen for the UI Update Successful message.

  4. Remove the flash drive. The new standby screens will be displayed.

  5. Note that KLIK will save the old standby screens to the flash drive, making it easy to restore them if needed later on.
